CULTURE OF DEBATE AND DIALOGUE IN TEACHING SOCIO-HUMANISTIC DISCIPLINES
Abstract
The task of the socio-humanistic disciplines is the opening towards communion and communication. It is precisely within these disciplines that the students have the opportunity to develop a range of skills, important for the democratic society, such as using critical and creative thinking in various contexts, civic attitudes and behaviors through active participation in the teaching process. Interactive teaching-learning methods, such as dialogue and debate, have found an important place within the socio-humanistic disciplines, their role is constantly increasing. However, the culture of these communication processes is precarious. The dialogue and the university debate require both from the professor and the students prior training, based on the latest achievements in the communication sciences, which are evolving very rapidly. In this article we intend to elucidate the basic requirements of dialogical communication and debate in order to highlight the importance of these valuable tools for training future specialists and men of culture.
