Arterial hypertension is a frequent public health problem; it can be of primary or secondary etiology. Secondary hypertension due to a cause can be treated with specific interventions. In order to identify the most frequent causes and mechanisms, a search of articles was carried out in Google Scholar and Pubmed. It was found that we can suspect it in patients under 30 years of age debuting with arterial hypertension without obvious risk factors, clinical data, laboratory data and imaging studies compatible with renal or endocrine causes of secondary hypertension, data suggestive of sleep apnea. We should obtain a medical history and perform a physical examination looking for clinical clues that guide us, to carry out the necessary studies and reach a timely diagnosis.
