Key points A significant correlation exists between the fat attenuation index (FAI) and left ventricular function parameters. Our results suggest that cardiac mortality caused by an increased FAI may be due to changes in the left ventricular function. Pericoronary adipose tissue did not correlate with the body mass index or risk factors of coronary heart disease.
