A Parturient with Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura: Anaesthetic Management for Caesarean Section

Abstract

Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) accounts for 4-5% of cases of pregnancy with thrombocytopenia. Their clinical condition may deteriorate during pregnancy subjecting these patients at high risk of bleeding. We report anaesthetic management of a parturient with chronic ITP for caesarean section.
