The purpose of this article is to critically address the prominent role of Brazil in different type of world order. However, it must be said that any contribution to the critique of International Political Economy that does not expend effort to emphasize the paradox of modernity is simply an unfounded justification for the revival of financial bubbles characteristic of a system that was built on the pillars of inequality and monetary thinking. After all, power relations are intrinsically related to the appreciation of value as the automatic subject of society and the aspirations of Brazil as a global power are dependent upon emancipation from the dictates of the world market and overcoming the conflicts resulting from the current stage of the structural crisis of capital.
