“Subnovel” by Vasily Betaki and the Pushkin tradition. Vasily Betaki. The Hero of the 60s: Subnovel

Abstract

The publication presents an unfinished narrative poem by the wellknown Russian poet Vasily Betaki (1930–2013) “The Hero of the 60s . Subnovel” (1960s — 1970s). The poem follows “Eugene Onegin” and depicts literary and social life during the “Khrushchev Thaw”. The preface gives a very short history of the Russian “onegiana” for approximately 150 years.
