PREVALENCE OF DIGESTIVE PARASITES IN BREEDING RABBITS AND THEIR LITTERS: IN FARM AND RATIONAL BREEDING

Abstract

The aim of our research is to study the impact of type of rabbit breeding and category of animals on the presence and intestinal parasites frequency in rabbits and examined a variability of these frequencies among females. The first breeding is of rational farm (RAT) and the second one is traditional farm (FER). The rabbit breeding, were located in the region of Tizi-Ouzou in Algeria. The parasitological diagnosis, which consisted of coprological analyses carried out in the physiology laboratory of our University. It allowed revealing and quantifying the presence of helminthic eggs and coccidian, in the droppings and intestinal contents of the rabbit. The analysis of the droppings of 99 rabbits, including 18 females and 81 rabbits in fattening revealed the presence of three species of parasites: Passalurusambiguus, Eimeria sp and Strongyloides sp. Their frequencies vary according to the type of rearing, the type of animals and the sampling number. The improvement of the breeding conditions in rational breeding has allowed observing a lower infestation of rabbits.
