We describe a new species of spiny green frog of the genus Pristimantis diagnosed by having tympanum, cranial crest, large conical tubercles on the posterior and anterior limbs, and by its uniform cream ventral coloration. Bioacoustics information about the warning and courtship calls and detailed comparisons of the new species with similar species from the Andes of Ecuador are provided. The new species is part of a particular ecotype of about 12 species of terrestrial frogs from montane forests in Ecuador grouped into at least four Pristimantis paraphyletic groups. The condition of frontoparietal cranial crest with high edges suggests a close relationship of the new species with the P devillei species group.
