Management of Hypertensive patient in the Dental Office - Current Concepts

Abstract

Dental patients with a significant medical condition like hypertension are more likely to be encountered in the dental office. Those with very high blood pressure are at great risk for acute medical problems while receiving dental treatment. Adverse oral effects and drug interactions of antihypertensive medications further indicates special considerations for the hypertensive patient. This article highlights the recent advances in the dental management of hypertension. It is important for the dentist to be aware of hypertension in relation to the practice of dentistry.
