The main trends and conceptual foundations of the scientific library development of the socio-cultural activities
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to highlight the main trends, specifics and features of the socio-cultural activity of the scientific library and to reveal its newest forms in the system of social partnership - complex science popularization activities - on the example of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. Research methods. A systematic approach, principles of historicism and objectivity, system-activity and structural-functional methods, as well as methods of social communications are applied. Scientific novelty is determined by the concept of transformation of the library’s cultural and educational activities into socio-cultural ones in the conditions of informatization and humanization of society; summarizing the development trends of complex events as a new type of socio-cultural activity. Conclusions. The independence of Ukraine, democratic processes and the informatization of society change the form and content of the socio-cultural activity of scientific libraries and cause its transformation. In today’s conditions, the socio-cultural activity of scientific libraries takes on the role of a cultural factor in the formation of the national mentality with the spread of scientifically based cultural knowledge, proving the importance of awareness of the historical continuity of culture, with the maximum completeness of highlighting the most important phenomena of the historical past and the modern development of cultural processes and unique and mass facts of culture. Thus, the scientific library turns into one of the most important factors in the development of the socio-cultural environment.
