La mujer don. Feminidad y sentido de la maternidad en la configuración de la identidad de mujeres católicas profesionistas sin hijos / Women Don. Femininity and Sense of Motherhood in The Configuration of The Identity of Catholic Professional Women Without Children

Abstract

El presente artículo abona a la discusión sobre el sentido de la feminidad y la maternidad-no maternidad en mujeres del occidente mexicano. Los testimonios son parte de un trabajo de investigación más amplio en el que se recabaron relatos de vida de mujeres profesionistas no madres. En los casos presentados resulta interesante mostrar la manera en que la feminidad y la maternidad-no maternidad, y en general el ser y experimentarse mujeres en estos sujetos, se construye a partir de las creencias religiosas católicas-cristianas, y cómo desde su posición de mujeres de fe estructuran las expectativas de vida futura en ámbitos como la vida en pareja y la maternidad. El trabajo es relevante pues ejemplifica la forma en que mujeres del occidente mexicano constituyen su identidad de género femenina teniendo como pilar el “ser para otros”. This article adds on the discussion of the sense of femininity and motherhood in women from Mexican west. The testimonies are part of a broader research work in which life stories of professional women who are not mothers were collected. In the cases presented, it is interesting to show the way in which femininity and motherhood, and in general being and experiencing women in these subjects, is built on the basis of Catholic-Christian religious beliefs, and how from their position as women of faith they structure their expectations of future life. The work is relevant because it exemplifies the way in which women from the Mexican West constitute their feminine gender identity having as a pillar the «being for others».
