Determinación de arsénico total en cabello de individuos expuestos al embalse contaminado del Muña (Síbaté, Cundinamarca)
Abstract
In a previous environmental study in Sibaté (Cundinamarca) was detected arsenic in food and water for human consumption. An exploratory cross-sectíonal study was performed to explore the association between total arsenic levels in hair and resídence near to the dam. Samples of hair from 50 subjects from schools and municipality workers were collected. This sample was classified in two exposure groups according to the place of residence to the dam. The chemical analysis were performed with an spectrophotometer of atomic absorption according to the protocol of the Toxicological Center of Quebec. The findings showed that individuals from the non-exposed zone have higher arsenic levels than exposed ones (p=0.0452). The concentrations ranked between nondetectable to 1611.40 ugIKg in the exposed group to between non-detectable to 2077.50 uglKg in the non-exposed group. none of the individuals had any adverse' effect potentially associated with arsenic, Exposure, In conclusion, this study doesn't show an association between to live near to the Muña's dam and high levels oftotal arsenic in hair.
