The "smart grids" combine the traditional network with information and communication technologies to constitute a new way to manage the flows of electricity and the incorporation of renewable energy. Its materialization depends mainly on the available infrastructure, possible resources flows, the existence of a market, the interest of public policies and adequate legislation. In Argentina isolated experimental initiatives appear and rules contemplate their potential development. The work explores some conceptual elements and first technical and regulatory initiatives in Argentina. The aim of this work is to put in relation ideas, public policies and local experiences that are advancing in Argentina, showing their trajectories and articulations.
