How do the language and its accentuation adapt to the constraints of the melody? Which of these two elements takes precedence in the development of a song? The aim of musical prosody is to highlight the relationship between the accentuation of the lyrics and the melody. In a corpus of seventeen old traditional folk songs of oral transmission interpreted by Catherine Madec (1894-1974), a monolingual Breton woman from Plozévet and collected in 1964 by Donatien Laurent, it appears that the lyrics have a predominant place, but the melody also has its influence.
