DIVINE SERVICE RITUAL AS SEMIOTIC MANIFESTATION OF PRAYER DISCOURSE SYNERGY
Abstract
The present paper deals with the investigation of lingual and extralingual peculiarities of Anglican Divine Service ritual which facilitate prayer discourse synergy attainment. The detailed analysis of the Divine Service sequence has shown a unique change of the communicative roles of the Liturgy participants. This change becomes possible due to the Liturgical context specificity. Sacral chronotope symbolism as submission of time and space to the context of Liturgy makes it possible to realize synergy collaboration of the congregants with God. The brightest manifestations of this collaboration are encapsulated in Symbol of faith (I believe…) which demonstrates multilevel ritual semantics and in God’s Prayer (Our Father) which is considered to be proto-prayer for all Christian prayers. It has been proved that ritual communication is a peculiar type of communication in which sacrality plays an essential part in ritual semantics being one of the basic categories in the religious discourse synergy investigation.
