Increase of efficiency of the children's temporary molars complicated caries' treatment with usage of the standard metal crowns
Abstract
This article demonstrates research results, while comparing 2 groups of children, age 4-9, in which temporary molars restoration after treatment of chronic fibrous pulpitis were done using different techniques. First group included 64 children, whose 100 molars were restored, using standard metal crowns (manufactured by 3M ESPE, USA). Second group consisted of 53 children, whose 100 molars were restored, using filling materials (Composites, compomers and glass-ionomers.) While screening of children 4 month after temporary molars treatment, condition of teeth was measured, using following criteria: stable restoration, unstable restoration, signs of secondary decay, extraction of tooth due to the periodontal pathology. According to comparative study of stability of the restorations in temporary molars using standard metal crowns (manufactured 3M ESPE) and filling materials after endodontic treatment, using Pulpotec, stability molars restored by standard metal crowns is a lot higher than stability of molars, restored by different filling materials (94% and 60%). Maintenance of molars, restored by metal crowns is significantly higher, than in the group, in which molars were restored by different filling materials (99% and 91%). According to the results of this study, restoration of temporary molars using standard metal crowns should become part of the standardized treatment of pulpitis in temporary molars.
