Le mouton de Tabaski a Dakar. Facteurs explicatifs du prix de vente. Five markets or sale places for Tobaski or Aid El Kebir rams immolated for the yearly celebration of Abraham's sacrifice have been chosen and monitored for two to three weeks before the Holiday. In each market, live weights and sale prices have been collected with the main phenotype characteristics (coat and horns) on a random sample of 215 and 282 rams in 1994 and 1995, a total of 497. A model is presented with a regression function of price against live weight completed by a covariance analysis using, throughout a simple additive model, factors such that market place, horns, race, coat and also weight as the quantitative covariable. The covariable integration with the main effects shows that all factors are significant with the covariable weight which plays an essential and leading role in Tobaski ram pricing. Marketing margins are spread between 19 and 34 % of the sale price at the Dakar terminal market place. The analysis of such margins helps in getting precision and monitoring the ram traders budgets.
