Intramuscular lipoma displacing the medial and lateral heads of gastrocnemius
Abstract
Lipomas are a common benign tumor, typically presenting after the 4th decade of life, however their presence is rare in children. Here we present a case of a 4-year-old male who was referred for surgical consultation due the presence of a slowly growing mass in his right lower limb. USS and MRI then uncovered the presence of a congenital intramuscular lipoma that had completely displaced the medial and lateral heads of the gastrocnemius muscle in the leg.
