Oral narratives are one of the qualitative methods of investigation. This article aimed at conducting abibliographic review concerning oral narratives and their use in psychiatric nursing since it is understood that suchmethod focuses on the individual himself as part of the narrative. The use of oral narratives in psychiatric nursinghas been increasingly observed and some authors have worked on the perspective that by knowing the subject'shistory, we are able to understand the meanings that he attributes to the process of becoming ill and its implicationsas well as other questions pertaining to psychiatric nursing.
