At the entrance/exit of the city, on the edges of the capital’s bus station, not places, where the existences and memories of workers remain covered by the movement of its expressways. Continuities/ruptures of the center(s) of a city with whitened speech. Underneath the Capanema Viaduct today, it seems possible to hear rhythmic markings that tell about those who lived along those banks. The Colorado Samba School, carnival blocks and routes that take us to leisure circuits, family or not, of the mass of workers who inhabited the region, in the city’s first industrial area. Based on these paths, I propose, then, to think of terreiros, samba school huts and capoeira groups as spaces for learning, traditional and religious, but also cultural and artistic. Spaces and practices for safeguarding cultural references of African origins in a city that has only highlighted its heritage with European nuances. The foundations of African cosmologies circulate through them, which make black existences viable and constitute the Afro-Brazilian PCI in Curitiba.
