Writing In Efl: An Analysis Of Developing Cognitive Processes
Abstract
This study aims at finding out a writer's developing cognitive processes in EFL writing. The data are analyzed based on the classic theory of Odell (1977). It was found that the writer develops better in using: 1) grammatical subjects; 2) connectors and superlative forms; 3) lexicons showing similarity, resemblance, and class; 4) physical words; and, 5) sequence. He is less developed or stagnant in using comparisons and negatives, syntaxes, lexicons showing difference, change, paradox, contrast and examples.
