Camille Drevet : Les Annamites chez eux (1928) ou l’écriture de l’urgence

Abstract

Les Annamites chez eux, published in 1928 by Camille Drevet, has a strong link with what is called here “emergency writing”. Sketching a portrait of this feminist, the article examines the theoretical viewpoints surrounding the specific case of female travellers in the colonial world. It then explores the strategies adopted by Drevet to certify her identity and affinity with the Annamese people. Revealing the work of the traveller and her relationship with others, the study also reveals her anti-colonial commitment.
