Народные названия болезней с компонентом nenä ’нос’ в карельском этноязыковом пространстве [The Karelian Designations of Some Diseases Containing the Component nenä ’nose’]
Abstract
In Karelian and a number of Finnic languages, a common lexical fund can be traced, including the names of a number of ailments, reflecting ancient religious and mythological ideas of the people about the causes of their occurrence. This article discusses the Karelian designations of some diseases containing the component nenä. It is noted that all the designations are compound words with a mythological meaning, which are of interest in relation to the principles of nomination. The names under consideration include two components: the first, as a rule, is the âsubject of influenceâ, and the second is the âresult of the influenceâ.
