Scientific production and Bolivian international colaboration, in the period Scopus 1996-2018

Introduction: Scientific production and its quality are a responsibility and concern for the scientific official as well as for scientist. There are only few recent studies about the evaluation of the scientific production in Bolivia mainly about the international collaboration. Aim: To characterize the scientific production and the international cooperation in the country from 1996-2018. Materials and methods: External evaluation parameters such as citable documents, total of citation, autocitations, citations per document, H index and international colaboration were employed by Scopus and SCImago Journal and Country Rank during this period Results: Bolivia occupies the 8th position in scientific production among the South American countries. An increment of papers was observed in the period. There was an increment of the papers related to agriculture, medicine, environment, astronomy and social sciences during the last 22 years. Bolivia is the country with the largest international cooperation among the ones with common borders. Conclusion: Bolivia scientific production has a sustainable increment in the period with an outstanding international cooperation.
