Research Progress of Noninvasive Evaluation of Portal Hypertension by Blood‐Based Tests
Abstract
ABSTRACT Portal hypertension (PH) is a collection of clinical conditions that occur due to an enduring elevation of pressure within the portal venous system, and it is closely linked to the prognosis of liver disease patients. The hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is considered the diagnostic standard for PH, but its use is limited due to its invasive, costly, and radiological nature. As such, the search for noninvasive diagnostic methods is the focus of researchers worldwide. This review article provides an overview of routine and novel blood test indicators, as well as diagnostic models composed of multiple indicators, in the diagnosis of PH, which was generally diagnosed by HVPG, and also insights into the development of more accurate and simpler diagnostic methods for PH.
