A endocrinologia em Portugal : origens de uma especialidade médica na primeira metade do século XX

Abstract

This article aim to identify the main phases of the construction of Portuguese Endocrinology in the first half of the 20th century. The Portuguese endocrinology has its roots in the laboratory studies of Marck Athias histophysiology school and his disciples, evolving into to clinical applications. During that period, many scientific and academical studies were made, the first doctor’s appointments were created, the first specialized journal were edited and the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology was finally created, what catapulted Endocrinology for the category of medical speciality
