Les Grecs en Égypte au iiie siècle av. J.-C.
Abstract
Chiefly founded on the papyrologic documentation, this study deals with the Greek-speaking population, civilian and military, established in Egypt in the iii c. B.C. It exploits the figures contained in ledgers of the salt tax published by W. Clarysse and D. Thompson in 2006 (reedited with emendations in 2009). The juridical and fiscal status of that population testifies to the will of the early Ptolemies to make of Greek culture a distinctive mark of their policy at Alexandria and inside the kingdom.
