Prensa satírica, humorística, erótica y festiva ¿Cómo hablar del Poder en España en el primer tercio del siglo XX?

Abstract

All Power tends to control freedom of expression and the ability to produce in writing a rebuttal or mockery that would weaken or denigrate the official discourse. Some journalists seek historical correlations, but do not avoid the pitfalls of irony that ends up turning into irony on oneself and generates a much greater evil: self-censorship. Governments censored pornography but rarely commented on current events, except at the beginning of the twentieth century with the so-called Law of Jurisdictions (1905). Then the humorous press sacrifices to an agreed humor that does not reflect any social effervescence. It shows that everything can be laughed at and tries, through a critique of manners and a vaguely erotic humor, to attract the general assent. The Second Republic tolerates satire and even the expression of the hatred of the traditionalist right, often against Azaña, who does not count on the press to win the opinion and thinks that republican reason will eventually prevail.
