Solvent-free one pot synthesis of 1,2-dihydroquinolines from anilines and acetone catalysed by MOF-199
Abstract
The one-pot synthesis of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinolines by the reaction of anilines with acetone or desired ketone catalysed by MOF-199 was developed in a mild, convenient, solvent free and efficient reaction procedure. Heterogeneous catalyst, MOF-199 was highly crystalline porous metal organic framework, synthesized from the reaction between copper nitrate and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid by solvothermal method. The MOF-199 was characterized by the various methods such as XRD, SEM, EDS and FT-IR. Under mild conditions, excellent conversions were obtained in presence of 2.5 mol% catalyst. MOF-199 catalyst can be simply separated from the reaction mixture, easily filtered and reused many times without massive catalytic degradation. There was no participation from homogeneous catalysis of active species leaching to the liquid phase indicating that MOF-199 is truly heterogeneous catalyst.
