El nuevo mapa historicista y femenino de Susan Howe / Susan Howe’s New Historicist and Feminine Maps
Abstract
RESUMEN: El nuevo marco historicista de Susan Howe subvierte el sistema simbólico empezando por el lenguaje, considerado éste como ley y que conlleva poder y autoridad. Sus textos poéticos y ensayísticos se basan en referencias cruzadas, collage formal y múltiples arbitrariedades. En este sentido, las mujeres no han sido citadas en la historia, simplemente han estado sin voz y son para Howe «lo femenino», especialmente representado en Emily Dickinson y Mary Rowlandson, simplemente porque escribieron una escritura «liberada de su traducibilidad». ABSTRACT: Susan Howe’s historicist framework emerges subverting the symbolic realm of language. Her writing is based on cross-cultural references, formalist collage, and arbitrariness, finding out how language imposes a ritual and its reifying power. Opposed to authoritative academic history, Howe dares to assemble past and present through which prophetic poetry represents the purest writing. On the other hand, Howe highlights women’s silent voices, «the feminine», especially represented by Emily Dickinson and Mary Rowlandson, who have been obscured in history only because their language was «stripped to its unstranslatability».
