International scene influenced by landmark events of Stockholm-1972 and Brundtland report-1987 influenced the writing of the constitution of Brazil in 1988. The work presents the evolution of socio-environmentalism discussion in Brazil, from its sprouting to present day. A critical analysis is offered at different speeches involving the problem, highlighting a critique to the capitalist model of development leading to a process of both environment and human being degradation. Traditional and indigenous populations with their own ways of life and their ethnic knowledge derived from specific relations involving environment and production are not being respected. To solve social movements claiming for environmental justice it is necessary to open territory management to this minority and reverse appropriation of the natural patrimony by dominant groups.
