Influence of autonomous vessels on cost efficiency in waterborne transportation

Abstract

The paper is based on the analysis of advantages and savings in the application of autonomous ships in relation to conventional ships. With the introduction of new technologies and the improvement of communication, a reduction in the number of navigation accidents is expected, ie an increase in navigation safety. In addition to the analysis of the travel costs of autonomous and conventional ships, emissions of harmful gases were also considered.
