New International Mobility of Poles
Abstract
Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, societies in Central and Eastern Europe have been engaged in a process of increasing mobility - among them, the Poles especially. This mobility is complex, and embraces different kinds of movements. This papers aims to replace Pole’s mobility in the light of theoretical explanation frameworks. It presents the problems raised by the statistical measure of mobility. The paper then focuses on the international mobility of the Poles: labor migration, and tourism trips. It delivers an analysis of the sociological feature of migrants and tourists, and of the means of transport used by them.
