Wage Bill and Subnational Income Distribution in Mexico This work has a double objective: first, the development of a method to calculate the wage bill by income levels in the Mexican States. For this, the salary structure of the administrative records of the IMSS is used, consisting of 25 salary levels. Second, with the results obtained, to measure the distribution of factorial income and labor income per State, through a comparative analysis between income and the calculation of the Gini Coefficient. It is recommended that Coneval, the institution that calculates this variable with a very large underestimation, should perform its calculation with this proposed method. The limitation would be that it only refers to income that come from wages. The originality of this methodology comes from the usage of a salary structure that recognizes salary diversity, avoiding an average salary underestimation and an inappropriate salary structure. It is concluded that the data obtained represents new, unprecedented information, of high reliability and great utility for the knowledge of the wage bill and the distribution of state income.
