Littoralisation de l’Arc Latin : Analyse spatio-temporelle de la répartition de la population à une échelle fine

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze precisely the spatial dynamics of littoralization of the Latin Arc over the last five decades. The first analysis shows that most of the Spanish, French and Italian coastal regions follow this model of development perfectly. This consists of a coastal concentration of population and a decline of the inland territories, and continues with a shift of the coastal dynamics towards the area situated just behind the coast. In the second analysis, carried out at the municipal level, the diversity of spatial dynamics and their temporalities reveals a less uniform and more complex process on a local scale.
