The experiment was conducted during winter 2021-22 to study the inheritance of okra leaf shape in F3 populations of F2382/CO17 and PBH115/CO17 crosses where, F2382 and PBH 115 are okra leaf parents and CO17 had compact leaf type. A segregation ratio of 3:2:1 for okra, sub-okra and normal leaf types, respectively was observed in F2382/ CO17 and PBH115/CO17. Besides, non-association of leaf type and leaf area was also deduced. This study was primarily taken to combine the okra leaf having reduced leaf area with compact plant type to develop an ideal plant type with compactness and okra leaf as the former trait makes the plant fit for mechanical harvest, while the later for pest resistance. Okra leaf type contributed for more yield than normal leaf owing to its short stature, zero monopodia, more sympodia per plant and relative compactness.
