SUCESSÃO E LIMINARIDADE: O CASO DO TERREIRO DA GOMEIA

Abstract

This paper presents the extinct Terreiro of Gomeia (Duque de Caxias / RJ). On one side, we will discuss the history and formation of local leadership exercised by the babalorixá Johnny Gomeia. Analyze the other, the theoretical framework of Victor Turner, the phases of a rite of passage, in particular, develop a critique of the postulate of the author and the maintenance of social order after the rite. The article will focus on the analysis of the event of his death and the succession conflict initiated after this. Describe the groups of interest related to leadership dispute and how it resulted in the closure of the Axé and the opening of another house of Candomblé with the same name, action taken by a group considered dissident.
