Optical frequency combs can provide phase-coherent links between optical frequencies and microwaves, allowing for precise optical frequency generation; however current technologies require external optical references or multiple power-intensive peripherals that make them less suitable for on-chip applications. Here, the authors present phase stabilization of a frequency microcomb without nonlinear processes nor external optical reference signals.
