Abstract
The aim of the research is to provide a general overview of the Synodikon of Zolotonosha Monastery of the Annunciation, to analyze its content and to clarify thescientific potential of the monuments of ecclesiastical writing in the context of studying the historical, social and cultural processes that took place in the Ukrainian lands in the early modern period. The research methodology is based on the principles of science, consistency, historicism, using source study, comparative and logical methods. Scientific novelty is determined not only by the introduction of a new historical source for scientific use, being disregarded, in fact, by scientists and researchers, but also by the clarification of the main functions of the Synodikon (commemoration and protection of the rights of the monastery to material resources), which makes it possible to trace not only the development of the church culture itself, but also its relationship with the social processes taking place in the Ukrainian lands at agiven period of time, the interaction of the church environment with other segmentsof the population, in particular with the Ukrainian Cossacks. Conclusions. The Synodikon of Zolotonosha Monastery of the Annunciation, as a monument of Ukrainian culture, history and ecclesiastical writing, deserves a deeper study by scientistsand historians, since it helps to study a number of issues of social, cultural and political nature, in particular concerning relations of the Church with the Ukrainian Cossacks, the Zaporozhian Sich, local population, clergy and the like. The information it contains gives a possibility to explore the genealogy of many Ukrainian familiesof different social background, for example, the Shevchenkos, the Neverovskys, the Korniloviches and many others.
