Urban Geography and its importance in basic education / A Geografia Urbana e sua importância no ensino básico
Abstract
This article envisages discuss the Urban Geography in primary education to expose the importance of having an educational focus on urban space theme of geography discipline; since the role of schools would also give you conditions to become a citizen, since mostly students living in the city, with the main objective to approach the importance of the city's education and urban in Geography lessons in education Basic. This dynamic is necessary for the school and the teaching and include, or give more emphasis to the content related to the topic of utmost importance to the construction of citizenship. The methodology used for this benchmark was based on literary research, such as: Santana (2013), squash (2006), Araújo (2004/2005) and Smith (2013); that led us furthermore authors such as Santos (2008), Cavalcante (2002) and Correia (1999). The results to point that the teaching of Urban Geography in schools is badly needed for the development of students' criticality in relation to urban space to which they belong, and that this is important the exercise of interested pedagogical practices to awaken the desire to understand the dynamic city out of the "monotony of the classroom." Thus it is concluded that the use of content that address the micro and the macro in the urban environment conducive to geography teaching to graduate students and concerned citizens.
