Pourquoi étudier les paysages religieux en Gaule ?
Abstract
This paper aims to develop a reflexive analysis on a subject of study in progression since the beginning of the years 2000. Focused essentially on Gauls, this article first proposes a definition of the concept of “religious (or sacred) landscape” and a state of the art. It demonstrates the topicality and the scientific consensus about this approach. Moreover, with the numerous actions in Gaul, sharing information and reflective analysis would benefit all. Nevertheless, this approach expects a national dynamic in order to standardize methods. Secondly, I tried modestly to raise the opportunities for renewal offered by the generalization of new tools in the spatial archaeology of sanctuaries (GIS, lidar, geophysical prospecting of large areas) but also by new concepts, promoting, for example, an archaeology of memory.
