For the more than one hundred years of existence of the Russian studies for the Justinianic Law the full translation of this emperor’s decrees never was made. Owing to this reason evidently even those Justinian’s laws, which have vast significance for detailed and correct reconstruction of that epoch remain as almost only a sources with index number. The novel VII, for example, is considered the one of Early-Byzantine constitutions, which strengthened the property rights of the Imperial Church. Meanwhile this historical source contains a lot of useful information about not only religious policies of Justinian I and other ecclesiastical matters. The translation with necessary references and minimum of notes seems to author the possibility not only to give a new scientific life to it, but to advance by the way of Justinianic epoch’s research as well.
