Democracy , Governance and Citizenship : Challenges for ( Re ) Construction of the State

Abstract

The discussion on the future of democracy goes necessarily through the ideas re- lated to a renovation of the current political system, and transformation in the ma- nagement of the public apparatus. The domain crisis onto the State, begins to open perspectives to the renovation and the citizenship warranty. Globalization, the market rules, and the constant changes in the social and behavioral relationship, in view of the innovations brought by this context, had attributed inevitable changes to the Rule of Law. The technological advance and the information flux had transformed the way on how the citizen sees oneself in the State, and demands new and faster responses from the State. All these matters permeate the idea of a Public Governance and the manner on which the public administrators comprehend the interconnection between develo- pment and economics.
