Various theories have been proposed regarding the evolution and degeneration of societies. Among these theories, this research focuses on the cultural theory. Among the Muslim scholars, Seyed Jamalodin Asadabadi’s degeneration theory is not considered to fit a cultural framework. The research demonstrates that even Seyed Jamalodin Asadabadi has considered cultural factors in degeneration of Islamic societies. His theory of hexagonal castle of human happiness contains two important points that are used for proving the theory at hand: 1. The cause of degeneration can be non-political and non-structural. 2. The degeneration of a society is based on internal, especially cultural, factors.
