Creative tourism, based on an active learning experience allowing the experience co-creation, becomes a creative industry through arts and publishing. Mediation, narration and customization have a central position in this type of tourism that integrates artistic practices (painters, artists and carnettistes illustrators), internships, trips or artistic workshops abroad and in situ multi-sensory experiences. The individual, involved in a creative process in interaction with the destination and the locals, experiences the “do”. Travelogue and travel sketchbook are objects and vectors of this experiential and creative type of tourism, as the carnettiste tourist is a “cultural creative” actor of his journey. Territorial developments take shape through storytelling tourism projects but also through regional specificities – so does the Auvergne region which leans on the “creative space” Clermont-Ferrand, international center of visual arts.
