Mucinous eccrine nevus: Case report of a rare entity
Abstract
A 23-year-old patient presented with a vague three centimeter plaque in the umbilical region, associated with local hyperhidrosis. Histopathology of the excision specimen showed an increase in the number of sweat coils embedded in abundant mucinous stroma, typical of mucinous eccrine nevus. An unusual finding was hyperplasia of the sweat coil epithelium, reminiscent of ductal hyperplasia in the mammary gland. This is the 15th reported case of mucinous eccrine nevus.
