Mario Carrara, l'erede di Lombroso che disse no a Mussolini - Mario Carrara, the heir of Lombroso who said no to Mussolini
Abstract
This paper traces a scientific, political and biographical profile of the Jewish forensic scientist and criminal anthropologist Mario Carrara (1866-1937), Cesare Lombroso’s son-in-law and scientific heir, known for having refused to sign the fascist loyalty oath imposed upon all university professors in 1931. Particular attention is devoted to the significant role that Carrara played within the antifascist milieu of Turin and to the close relationships he established with leading members of the antifascist organization Giustizia e Libertà in the 20’s and 30’s.
