The verse from the Quran, “Indeed, Allah intends to keep away the impurity from you, people of the [Prophet’s] household, and purify you with [extensive] purification.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33), encompasses several significant Quranic concepts, with purity being one of the most important. It is essential to delve into this Quranic concept of purity before anything else. Defining its meaning unveils the truth behind divine infallibility, which is closely linked to the necessity of textual evidence in determining the infallible. Consequently, any opposing claim that denies evidence from the Quran regarding the doctrine of infallibility is far removed from objectivity. One of the crucial outcomes of this study is the affirmation of the formative will and the comprehensive nature of the purity mentioned in the noble verse. It does not align with false determinism. Moreover, the term “Ahl al-Bayt” (people of the household) specifically refers to those who are covered by the Prophet’s cloak, emphasizing their unique status in the language of Islamic jurisprudence. This understanding emerges through the following discussions.
