The paper analyzes the attitude of foreign poets of the XX–XXI centuries to the October revolution. In the years of Perestroika there is an explicit negation of its image in famous rock-texts by Yuri Shevchuk, Boris Grebenshikov, Alexander Bashlachjov. In 2010s modern poets of the “left” and “right-wing” journals show multidirectional viewpoint on glorifying and rejecting the revolutionary ideals. And yet the motif of intense consideration about the tragic history of Russia becomes central to the perception of the revolutionary past, which is certainly beneficial for the Russian national self-consciousness.
