The article deals with online laboratory teaching. This system of education is gaining importance especially in the context of combined teaching of technical subjects, when students of combined study can remotely participate in the laboratory lessons with laboratory experimentation with physical tasks. However, students of full-time study programs can benefit from remote completion of laboratory education as well and it is gaining ground at a number of technical schools. In the article we deal especially with the technical solution to this particular method of teaching with a view to both solving technical problems and questions of information security of the Internet access to the laboratory. By means of case studies we present Internet laboratory teaching of systems of automatic computer control of physical and virtual models. It is just the Internet access to the physical models, which are usually expensive and unique, that shows the advantages of Internet access in the best light. They consist in the fact that the unique patterns can be used by students from several universities, by those from collaborating foreign institutions, and interested individuals from the engineering community. The article provides readers with a complex view of this issue from the technical solution through the information security of licensed software to the operational safety and unattended character of physical models.
